Nefertiti Abdulmalik aka SolAR* was raised on Chicago's Northside and has always been drawn towards the Arts and Nature. While growing up, her parents ensured she practiced visual art while also studying history of the world and the social justice issues of the past and present. Her current focus is to create works that illustrate Nature and its Interconnectedness while also inspiring Humanity to look, listen, breathe and understand one another through the Arts. Nefertiti holds a BFA in Animation from DePaul University where she studied Animation Arts and Cinema. She is an Award Winning animator winning Best Animated Film at the Gary International Film Festival in 2017. Her film Aqua Story has screened Interternationally, winning laurels at Animalcoi Film Festival in Spain and Westfield Film Festival in New Jersey. Nefertiti has studied Illustration, Painting, Music and traditonal dances from Africa, India, Japan to futher enrich her style of movement, human communication and storytelling. SolAR* is now beginning her career as a Mixed Media Performing Artist, combining her love and skills for Music, Dance, Animation and Storytelling with the goal of Uplifting and Inspiring Humanity.
